Juan Cruz is an independent musician who in 2020 decided to link the talent of the Dominican Republic with the tradition of Argentine rock. By definition, his music transcends borders and offers an eclectic style, combining influences from rock, pop and country.
Their first EP of four singles featured the collaboration of various musicians from the Dominican Republic such as Emm Silverio, Kristie, Luis Armando, Guy Frómeta on drums and Adriana Garcell on cello.
Despite the routine demands of his job, Juan Cruz dedicates his free time to composing new songs, connecting with artists from various countries around the world, and perfecting techniques on the acoustic and electric guitar. The guitar is the instrument with which he composes and that can be heard in all the songs on his first EP.
Juan Cruz grew up in the Argentine Patagonia, he studied his Master's degree in Buenos Aires and the United States, where he lived for thirteen years. In 2019 he moved to the Dominican Republic, a country that impacted him on a personal level and where he integrated into the local music world. He currently lives in Lima, Peru.
No me busques is the EP's first single, in collaboration with Emm Silverio. In a world in constant need to increment the level of "reasoning" at all levels, the song is an attempt to put into perspective the need for love without interests, without conditions. Adriana Garcell's art with the cello guides a simple but at the same time deep melody. Like true love.
The EP's second single is a collaboration with Kristie. Avioncitos de papel is a fusion between pop rock and country, something somewhat rare in Latin music. It tells the story of a childhood love, the one that frequently occurs in the classroom and is never forgotten.
Ángel del olvido is a song that was composed by Juan Cruz over 20 years ago. It's one of those frequently untold stories where everything is okay between two people, but that's not enough. With arrangements by Emm Silverio, Ángel del olvido connects the talent of Dominican music with the enormous tradition of Argentine indie rock.
The live acoustic version of Ángel del olvido was recorded in Santo Domingo. Juan Cruz (guitar and vocals) and Emm Silverio (guitar) performed a slower version of the original song. The magic of recording in a live format provides a special feeling to this song. Two guitars and a microphone performing in one shot. No editing.
